Hyundai has revealed the i20 facelift premium hatchback, showcasing the updated design and latest features through official images. While initially unveiled in Europe, the refreshed i20 is anticipated to make its way to India later this year. Production of the renewed i20 is set to commence in the third quarter of 2023. The new i20 will compete with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Tata Altroz in India.
The updated Hyundai i20 facelift boasts a sportier appearance, thanks to redesigned bumpers and an attractive new grille. The back of the car has also received subtle tweaks, while the newly designed 16- or 17-inch wheels make a statement from the side.
This vehicle is available in eight different exterior colours, including three new options like Lucid Lime Metallic, Lumen Gray Pearl, and Meta Blue Pearl, along with two dual-tone choices. In addition to these, the i20 will also be offered in familiar hues such as Phantom Black Pearl, Aurora Gray Pearl, Dragon Red Pearl, Mangrove Green Pearl, and Atlas White, some of which can be paired with a contrasting black roof.
The interior of the new i20 hatchback will feature an enhanced instrument panel that includes a 4.2-inch screen on the base models. However, customers can opt for an even larger and fully digital 10.25-inch driver display. The updated touchscreen infotainment system, borrowed from other Hyundai vehicles like the Alcazar, is also included.
As for the engine, Hyundai has upgraded the i20 with a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder T-GDi petrol engine that can deliver either 100 or 120 horsepower, depending on the tune. This engine can be paired with either a 6-speed iMT manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission.
In addition to its other features, the new Hyundai i20 hatchback includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as an anti-collision system that can detect both pedestrians and cyclists, as well as lane keep assist. The vehicle will also provide optional ADAS features, including blind spot detection and collision avoidance, rear-cross traffic alert, and Smart Cruise Control. This system has the capability to anticipate curves and straight roads on marked lanes, and can automatically adjust the cruising speed depending on other vehicles on the road ahead.
